Describe the experience before the technology

“Combine my two favourite games” leaves almost every decision open. Do you want a character to appear in a different world, a movement mechanic in familiar levels, or the look of one game inside another? Choose one of those as the first experiment. You can expand after you have a result you understand.

The official examples are useful vocabulary. SkyCraft is described as a Minecraft player in Skyrim. Skate Warfare suggests a movement crossover. Those observations help you describe a goal; they are not instructions for extracting assets or proof that another pair is technically feasible.

Write down what should remain unchanged. If the experiment concerns movement, you might want to preserve the existing level and objective. If it concerns appearance, avoid quietly expanding the plan into new combat, networking and progression systems. A narrower brief makes failures easier to identify.

Use a brief with a visible finish line

Use this structure in your own notes: host game and exact edition; second game and exact edition; desired change; things to leave alone; one small scene or action that demonstrates success; files or saves you need to preserve; and the conditions under which you will stop.

For an editorial example, a brief might ask for one clearly described character change in a known test area, while keeping movement and mission progress unchanged. The success test would be a short observed action in that area. This is a planning example, not a ready-to-run recipe or a claim that any particular character conversion is supported.

Describe the failure test too. Does the original game still launch? Does the test area load? Can you explain what changed after each attempt? Stop if you cannot identify the modified scope or restore the prior setup. A successful screenshot by itself is not enough to establish a usable release.

Use the right environment for the task

Melty’s homepage names Claude Code and Codex in its creation workflow. The important distinction is a coding agent operating in an appropriate local environment, rather than a normal web chat that merely discusses the idea. A Reddit discussion about the launch shows why that distinction can be confusing.

Obtain current instructions through Melty, read them, and review the permissions your agent requests. A copied prompt is not a substitute for understanding what it can read, write, run or publish. Keep account tokens private and do not paste them into public posts when asking for help.

This guide does not execute Melty instructions or connect an agent for you. It helps define the task before that step. If your agent cannot access the intended environment, resolve that setup question using its own documentation; repeatedly rephrasing the creative idea will not give it capabilities it does not have.

A creator demonstrates a Cuphead and Silksong project. This is a player example, separate from our six official showcase cards. The video’s upload-check commentary differs from Melty’s current terms.

Watch an example without copying its claims

In the embedded video, Connor Davis demonstrates a project involving Cuphead and Hollow Knight: Silksong. His description separates playing an existing release from building a project with Claude Code, then iterating after trying it. We present this as a creator report, not as our own hands-on experience or a general compatibility guarantee.

The video was published on October 6. Its commentary about upload checks differs from the current Melty terms we reviewed on October 11. The current terms say releases are audited before publication and updates are audited again. Use those terms for the platform’s stated process; neither the video nor this guide independently proves the quality of that audit.

The productive lesson from a build demonstration is the iteration loop: specify a small change, inspect the result, describe the exact mismatch, and try a bounded correction. It is not that every game pair works immediately or that a coding agent removes all engineering and rights questions.

Separate a private experiment from publication

Before publishing, check that you have the rights to share every included file and that the description tells players what the release does and needs. Melty’s current terms place that responsibility on the creator, including releases published by an agent or connected repository. Owning a game does not by itself answer every redistribution question.

Keep release notes specific: required editions, what changed, what you actually tested and known limitations. If multiplayer has not been tested, do not present it as supported. If you only tried one configuration, describe that configuration instead of making a universal claim.

A good first result may remain a private experiment. Publication is a separate step after testing and review, not the definition of success for a planning session. If you simply want to enjoy a crossover, return to the directory and choose an existing release instead of turning a play session into a development project.

Reader questions

These questions combine concerns raised in the linked community discussion with editorial follow-ups to official documentation and promotional claims. They are paraphrased, not quotations. Answers use current documentation.

Why can a normal chat not change my installed game?

A chat without local tooling cannot perform the same file and execution tasks as an appropriately configured coding agent. Melty’s creation instructions name coding agents; review their environment and permissions separately.

Does a good idea mean the combination is supported?

No. A brief describes an intended result. The release must still establish technical feasibility, testing, game requirements and sharing rights.
